Planning final project: location shots

While planning our opening we had to look at where we would be shooting our movie opening. In our research we saw that a lot of teen movies chose to have the characters travelling and arriving to the first location of their movie. This made us decide to have some of the people in our movie going to college, fitting in with the theme of other teen movies. We also wanted the plces that we were trvelling to  to be failey normal as that was what the beging of our teen movie was going to seem like, and ordinary teen movie rather than a gory horror movie.

Here are some of the Locations that we visted:
We chose the bus and a train station because they are regularly used pieces of transport that is used in London. Asone of our characters is on a skateboard he may have to cross the road.

.
In addition we had to take pictures inside of college as most of the action in the scene is taking place there.

.
We also took some pictures of some cut off shots that we took to make the flow of the movie more fluid.

Planning Final Project: Costume

We had the idea that the killer should wear white for us to put on the fake blood on it which will highlight the goreness our plot, and enhance our ideas. The costumes were going to be kept quite plain as we didnt want to distract from the gore. As the main character would be wearing this white top/dress we found some templates and kept to a budget of under £4.

Planning Final Project: Production Schedule

  • All our planning and preparation has started from Tuesday 3rd February, which will be leading up up till the pitch on the 6th of February.
  • We will start filming from Thursday 11th February, and will continue to do so  at the first half of half term, and once we come back from half term up until Tuesday 25th February – this will give 2 weeks to complete our filming.
  • When we are finished filming, the editing will begin on the 25th and continue till Tuesday 4th March – where we will have a ‘Rough Cut Deadline’, where we will receive feedback.
  • From this point onwards, we will make any changes with regards to the feedback, for the final deadline, which is
    TUESDAY 11TH MARCH!!!

Planning Final Projects: Props

As for planning what we are going to use in our film opening, we decided that we are going to keep it very simple by using minimial products.

Fake Blood: (which is incredibly easy)
To put blood on our character and show the bloodness and gore of the situation.

Dagger:
As the weapon we use to show the audience that the killer has used to kill the victim. This will show the audience the extent of the murder.

Scarf:
To idenitfy the victim to the audience of who is being killed.

Planning final project: Ideas

When researching films we want to reinact and take inspiration from, we found that horror type films were interesting, therefore our main ideas surrounding this.

We found that the supernatural and spooky element appealed to us, with the added interest of BLOOD. We also took inspiration from the Shot by Shot remake of the Breakfast Club opening, as we want to create a college atmosphere. However at the end we thought we could have the twist of the blood and spooky-ness. This would be a bit of a mystery to the audience.

Overall our main idea for the opening is pretty simple; we want a mysterious horror element to appear at the end of the film to make the audience want to watch the rest fof the film. Also, we thought that the opening could be a flash forward to the end of the film, where we actually see a close up of the 'murderer' but never see their face - remaining with the mystery element.
