Analysis of Three Teen Movies

Wild Child:

Wild child is a movie about an out of control American teenager whose father sends her off to an English boarding school to help her get her act together. This movie is more directed at girls than is a boys as the protagonist is a girl and the main issues faced are problems that girls are having-Fashion, Love, Father/daughter relationships, boy drama-and will interest girls more. As it has a big name actor, however, (Emma Roberts) the movie may pull in big fans of her and therefore pull in a larger audience.

Scott Pilgrim Vs The World:

This movie centers around Scott Pilgrim a boy in his early 20's who literally meets the girl of his dreams; but there's a catch if he wants to continue to date her then he must defeat her 7 evil exes. Unlike Wild child, this movie is more directed at boys than it is at girls. It started off as graphic novel of the same name. The movie has a lot of action and is fun to watch but also addresses some problems that other teenagers may facing at this time in their lives such as love, cheating boyfriends, homosexuality, trying to make it in the music industry etc.

Precious:

This movie is very different than the other two movies who have dealt with more juvenile issues. This movie deals with hard hitting problems that are very serious. This movie is about a girl named precious who was raped by her father and is now having his baby. This leads to her being placed in an alternative school. The issues dealt with in this movie are: child abuse, teen pregnancy, being illiterate, Homosexuality, HIV and Aids etc. Due to the fact that the main protagonist is a girl this will make the target audience mainly a female one.
