What is a teen film?

A teen film is a genre of film that is mainly targeted at teenagers, where the plot is based around the issues that teens face and the interests of teenagers. These movies have been around since the 1950's and although the movies have evolved a lot over the years they have kept similar core themes and topics, such as:

• Alcohol
• Love
• sexuality
• Religion
• friendship
• Family problems etc.

  There are very many different characters and locations used in teen movies.

• The Jock- popular and a lot of the time bullies the nerds
• The nerds- Usually extremely unpopular and are looked down upon
• The Cheerleaders- Mostly hang out in a big group of girls and go out with the Jocks
